Data Management Data Management Slideshow

A database is a collection of knowledge.  In the case of donor management it is a “brain trust” about people who connect with the values your organization espouses.  People come and people go.  Some are new to your list; some were acquired from an event; some are long-time friends; some are wealthy; some have never given.  Your database knows all of this…and it’s not even tired.

Data management in Denari can be organized into 3 large groupings: Names, Gifts and Pledges. Other significant details include funds, appeals, letters, contacts, child sponsorship, missionary, sharathons and more.

A Name records starts with basic data like first name, last name, address,  phone number and email.  It then expands to include data such as the source of the name, the interests of the person, their involvement, volunteerism, attendance and seasonal addresses.  Denari can also track contacts you’ve made and remind you when it’s time to call or send a letter.

In a similar way a gift record starts with the basics such as the date, amount, check number and name of the donor.  To add more meaning you’ll want to know what you did to acquire the gift, what the gift is designated toward, if it is restricted in some way, if there was a charitable/non-charitable split involved, if a soft credit is involved, or perhaps a memorial gift.

Pledges also start very simple.  A donor may want to give a monthly gift of $25.  Enter the amount, the frequency, the start date and end date.  Yet, pledges can become more complex.  Sometimes a pledge is open-ended. Sometimes it changes in mid-stream. The donor may want to give electronically by Credit Card or Bank Draft. Denari covers it all.

The key is that Denari holds all of your data in an integrated model so that each person your organization contacts can be cultivated and connected.
