![]() Synergy Development Systems, Inc. (Synergy) began on January 1, 1994 as a donor management software vendor, with 100% of its products and services devoted to the non-profit sector. Today Synergy functions with 100% of its revenues coming from the sale of donor management software and directly related services. Tom Kaufman, president and founder of Synergy, saw from his 8 years of service with a multi-million dollar non-profit organization the need for easy to use and powerful fundraising software. He started Synergy with a passion to exceed the standard offerings that were available. Why couldn't someone create something that really worked, had great reporting, had caring and qualified support and was affordable? Synergy was Tom's attempt to accomplish all of these goals. Today Synergy encompasses those values...powerful software, affordable pricing, innovative technology and caring support. Tom also believes that all parties should win when dealing with Synergy. Tom tries to treat the employees as if they were extended family. He tries to treat the customers as if they were "your mother". He runs the company with absolute integrity. And, Synergy is currently experiencing a 5 year trend of 18-25% growth per year. Much of this growth has been fueled by Synergy's expansion into integrated Online Communities and Smart E-Mail. These components allow a non-profit to handle its eMarketing from within the donor management software, thus creating added value. Over the years Denari has been written 4 separate times, each as a total re-write: DOS, 16-bit Windows, 32-bit Windows and Web-browser based. Synergy was the 2nd vendor to create 100% browser-based donor management software, only 3 months after eTapestry. Synergy believes in staying current with technology and utilizes the latest Microsoft technology in its applications. Synergy believes that its commitment to staying current with technology is a major strength when compared to some competitors who utilize terminal services or Citrix clients to allow it to run old software through a web-browser. DenariOnline runs in a native web-browser because it is HTML. Over the years Synergy has sold over 700 installations of its software. Some non-profits are on older versions of Denari, but most utilize DenariOnline. A few large clients utilize Denari Client/Server, where they host their own cluster of servers. However, most clients prefer to have their data hosted by Synergy. Synergy maintains its own server farm with security and redundancy at all levels. Synergy and Denari are PCI compliant, a security certification of the highest professional level. Among Synergy's customers are some very small start-ups and some quite large established non-profits, with annual revenues exceeding $20 Million. While it is true that Denari can handle mega-sized organizations with 100s of users, Synergy feels that its target market does not include mega-sized organizations. Synergy has observed that these organizations have a large appetite for customization. Since Synergy is a vertical market software vendor it chooses to restrict its commitment to customizations. Large organizations are encouraged to inquire. If it turns out that their needs are not particularly custom, then a powerful partnership is likely. If their needs are highly custom, then we will refer them elsewhere. Synergy has established stability and sustained profitability through an emphasis on niche markets. The Denari software is primarily General Purpose Donor Management Software. This means it can be used by many types of non-profits in many ways. However, some non-profits find additional value in Denari, due to our niche modules. Among these are Child Sponsorship, Missionary Support Raising and Radio/Sharathon. In each of these areas Synergy has worked patiently beside industry experts to fit the software to their specific business practices. In 2008/2009 additional work is under-way to establish a niche among medical non-profits. Synergy's future sales are predicted to have an emphasis in the niche markets of Sponsorship, Radio, Missionary and Medical. All non-profits are welcome, however, specific marketing efforts are under-way in these niches. |
